Megan Betts
Devoted to providing clients with high quality legal representation, Megan joined Paré & Associates with an extensive background in handling civil litigation. Megan has a proactive and determined approach to litigation that is inspired by her love for problem-solving and her competitive nature. Out of court, she focuses her efforts on deeply assessing the client’s issues and damages, conducting a risk/exposure analysis, helping the client create realistic goals and making all reasonable efforts to reach settlement when appropriate.
At Paré & Associates, Megan handles cases related to all facets of family law issues through mediation and trial including, dissolution of marriage, child custody and support, spousal support, property valuation and division of property. With a background in estate planning, she provides uniquely tailored and holistic solutions that create the best possible outcome for individuals and families. She enjoys drafting prenuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements and postnuptial agreements in addition to parenting plan agreements to provide the security of a predictable arrangement and reduced stress and anxiety for the whole family.

After growing up in Connecticut, she moved to Asheville, North Carolina to first earn her undergraduate degree from Warren Wilson College. She then returned to New England to complete her law degree from Roger Williams University, Rhode Island where she was a Dean’s Scholar, a Mock Trial Competition Contestant for Phi Alpha Delta International, Madison Chapter and dedicated many hours of pro bono work in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program. Megan has also published legal research and an in-depth comparative analysis on legislation related to offshore oil & gas drilling in the continental U.S. which she presented to a large group of interested individuals for the Marine Affairs Institute Rhode Island Sea Grant Law Fellowship program.
Following law school, Megan first took the bar and was admitted to practice in Massachusetts. She worked at law firms in the Greater Boston area, the Southcoast, and in Cape Cod. Then, in 2021, she relocated to the DMV and was admitted to practice in both the state and federal courts for the District of Columbia and Maryland. She has also litigated matters in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and been admitted pro hac vice in Courts throughout the country. She is a member of the Worldwide Women’s Association, Phi Alpha Delta International Alumni, DC Bar Association, MSBA, NBA, and inactive member of the Massachusetts Bar Association.
Outside of her professional life, Megan enjoys being outdoors, spending time with her family and husky, biking, boating, cooking, attending social events and sports events.
